If you have speakers already connected to your stereo, fully disconnect them. Active crossover units are larger than passive ones and need to be mounted in a stable location, ideally near your amplifiers. Using the appropriate cables, wire your crossover into the receiver or preamp, with the wires coming out of the receiver going into the “in” terminals on the crossover. Depending on your receiver and your stereo system, you will probably be making this connection with RCA cables, but some crossovers will are set up to use speaker wire instead as detailed in Method 1 if your receiver doesn’t have RCA outputs. Using the appropriate cables again, usually RCA or speaker wire for a home stereo system , connect the appropriate outputs to the appropriate amplifiers. If you don’t have a subwoofer, you’ll send your high frequency signal to your tweeter amp and low-frequency signal to your woofer amp. In this case, make sure your crossover is set to two-way mode. There should be a switch that controls this.

Visitor 7 years 10 months ago – 7 years 10 months ago 1 by shirles I am a little confused as to how I go about setting up a speaker system. Currently I have a 4 channel amp, and a 2 channel amp. The 4 channel amp takes the front and rear RCA outputs from my head unit, and then from there 4 sets of speaker wires go out to my speakers.
For the 2 sets of front speaker wire they go into a passive crossover and then out to my Alpine tweeter and midrange. All this I get
Proper ways to hook up Dual Voice Coil, Daisy Chain, & Multiple Speakers. Please read very carefully the amplifer specs Typically, a 2ohm capable AMP can only handle that load in STEREO MODE, not Bridged. There are basically two ways to hook up multipule or Dual Voice Coil Speakers.
My Jeeps I recently installed 2 kicker comp 10″ in my 98 jeep cherokee. I purchased an 8 guage wiring kit along with my subs. It came with power wire, ground, speaker wire, fuse, and remote wire. You connect the power wire to the positive of the battery and then make sure your fuse is within 18inches of the battery. Then i ran the power wire through the firewall and down the driver side floor panel to the rear of my car.
If you have a upgraded head-unit with rca pre-amp outputs you just connect your RCA’s and follow the same path as your wiring. Theres a blue wire in your wiring harness behind the head-unit. Once you have you RCA’s, Power wire, and Remote wire ran all the way to the back you need to work on the ground. The ground needs to be within 18″ from the amp recommended. Now your ready to hook up your amp. Connect your power, ground, remote, and rca’s to the amp. Then make sure its secure and fastened to the box or floor.
Now run your speaker wire to the subs and as long as everything was done correctly your sub should connect when the car turns on.

Contact Us Improving Stereo Performance of a Surround Sound Setup — Part 1 I hear and read of numerous reports from people with surround sound systems, that are not performing as well as desired for stereo music playback. Some are people who sold their old stereo setup, jumped on the surround sound band wagon, and now miss the musical qualities of their previous system. Others have started out with a surround sound system, but underestimated how much music they play and now find their system lacking in this department.
In both cases, people have fallen for the marketing hype that more channels is better, 5. So why do surround sound systems have such poor stereo performance compared to a stereo system? There are several reasons:
The amount of space you have to work with will help determine the size amp you buy. A common place to fit an amp is in the trunk or luggage compartment of your car.

Up until recently there were few options to get internet radio, or other audio content, directly to your speakers without running wires. Here are some newest and best options for bringing wireless music to your old equipment, or building a new, expanded, sound system that reaches every room without tearing up walls and running wires in the process.
The hardware is a big volume knob which connects to most existing speakers via 3. More music sources should also be confirmed soon. The beauty of the physical volume knob is that it allows anyone to reach over and change the volume without pulling out your phone. Connecting multiple Beep devices enables multiple zone to either play back the same or separate content. The goal of Beep is to be open and accessible to as many speakers and configurations, as a way to get the most people streaming music wirelessly.
To do this, the speaker learns what you play, where you play it, and at what volumes. If you like smooth Jazz in the late afternoon when you get home from work, the speaker learns and starts doing it on its own. The outside ring of the speaker is the volume knob when spun one way and a skip mechanism when spun the other way. Cone is available for pre-order and should ship in the summer.

This is how to troubleshoot a car amplifier and subwoofer or speakers. I have a powered subwoofer made by Infinity. The problem I kept having was that the unit would randomly stop working.
If you’ve got a car amplifier you’d like to use in your home, there’s one major obstacle to overcome: how to power the amplifier. Wall outlets provide volt AC power, but amplifiers require volt DC power.
Most receivers have either preamp-in and preamp-out connections or tape monitor connections. In most cases, these are the best way to connect an equalizer to your stereo. Connecting to the tape monitor channels will require connection to only your receiver. Learn how to hook up an equalizer to the receiver instead.
To run a signal from your stereo receiver to the equalizer and then to your amplifier, you will need 2 sets of RCA cable the same kind that is usually used to connect source components like turntables and CD players. The length of the RCA cables should match the length of the distance between the receiver and the equalizer. Connect one pair of cables to the pre-amp output channels on the receiver and the other end of the cable to the left and right channel inputs on the equalizer.
You will usually find these channels on the rear of the equalizer. Right channel jacks will usually take the red colored RCA plug while left channel should take white or black RCA plugs.

Amps People tend to prioritize guitars and a bunch of pedals and forget the importance of a good sounding amp. Choosing the right amp for your setup is crucial for getting the tones you want from your guitar and pedals.
That’s the bottom side of the triangle in the photo — speaker wires from the amp connect to the speaker wires on the adapter harness. Then that harness plugs into your car. For 4-speaker systems, you’d need to make eight connections — a positive and negative wire for each speaker.

It’s generally best to install the audio equipment prior to making the determination, so that you can address which symptoms need to be remedied and assess the severity of the symptoms. This will not only help you decide whether or not you need a capacitor, but also how much capacitance would be beneficial. It’s caused by a drop in system voltage associated with excessive current draw.
While there may indeed be several loads drawing substantial amounts of current from the electrical system eg. This is partly because our visual systems are most sensitive to detecting rapidly changing intensity levels rather than steady absolute differences.

Spring on lower control arm; both upper and lower ball joints Non-load bearing Spring on upper control arm; both upper and lower ball joints Load bearing Non-load bearing Load-bearing ball joints are much more likely to wear out than non-load-bearing ones. When inspecting the ball joints, pay particular attention to the load-bearing ones, as they are at a higher risk of wearing out. For vehicles with McPherson struts, the strut acts as the load-bearing ball joint. Maintaining Ball Joints Most ball joints have a grease fitting on them, allowing grease to be added to the joint as required.
Some new “maintenance-free” ball joints do not have this grease fitting and are designed to be essentially self-lubricating. This is accomplished by having reinforced plastics in contact with the ball instead of a metal-to-metal contact. They are used predominantly as non-load-bearing ball joints. To do so, connect the hose end of a grease gun to the grease fitting and pump the handle on the grease gun until grease comes out from under the rubber seal.
This ensures that the ball joint is fully lubed. Check the seal at the same time for cracking and tears. A torn rubber seal can allow dirt into the ball joint and also allow water to wash the grease out of the ball joint. If a torn seal is encountered, it can be replaced, although it is almost as much work to replace the seal as it is to replace the ball joint.
